Another confused homily from Francis

We were made to be God’s children, it is in our DNA. But this filial relationship was ruined and required the sacrifice of God’s only-begotten Son in order to be restored. From the immense gift of love which is Jesus’ death on the cross, the Holy Spirit has been poured out upon humanity like a vast torrent of grace. Those who by faith are immersed into this mystery of regeneration are reborn to the fullness of filial life.

Francis, 15 May 2016 —

“For you are all the children of God by faith, in Christ Jesus.  For as many of you as have been baptized in Christ, have put on Christ.  There is neither Jew nor Greek: there is neither bond nor free: there is neither male nor female. For you are all one in Christ Jesus.  And if you be Christ' s, then are you the seed of Abraham, heirs according to the promise.”

“He came unto his own, and his own received him not.  But as many as received him, he gave them power to be made the sons of God, to them that believe in his name.  Who are born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.  And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we saw his glory, the glory as it were of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.  John beareth witness of him, and crieth out, saying: This was he of whom I spoke: He that shall come after me, is preferred before me: because he was before me.”

So which is it Francis?

Are we children of God by nature or by grace?

Francis & Yom Kippur

Francis addressing the bishops of the United States of America in
St. Matthew's Cathedral on Wednesday 23 September 2015.

As can be see by the tweet above, CNN said that Francis wasn't attending any events the night of 22 September 2015 because he wanted to respect and honor the eve of the important Talmudic Jewish day of Yom Kippur.  Recall that the official first act of the pontificate of Francis within hours of his election was his drafting and sending a letter to Rome's Chief Rabbi, Riccardo Di Segni, calling for the continued strengthening of ties between Catholics and Jews.  So when Francis spoke to the bishops of the United States of America in St. Matthew's Cathedral on Wednesday 23 September 2015, it is fitting he started his address with these words,

"First of all, I wish to send a greeting to the Jewish community, our Jewish brothers and sisters, who today are celebrating Yom Kippur. May the Lord bless them with peace and help them to advance on the path of holiness, as we heard today in his word: “You shall be holy, for I am holy” (Lev 19:2)."

If the Talmudic Jews are "holy" without Christ, what is the point of Christianity? (Thanks to Michael Hoffman for pointing this out.)

(underlines are our for emphasis)

"For God so loved the world, as to give his only begotten Son; that whosoever believeth in him, may not perish, but may have life everlasting.  For God sent not his Son into the world, to judge the world, but that the world may be saved by him.  He that believeth in him is not judged. But he that doth not believe, is already judged: because he believeth not in the name of the only begotten Son of God.  And this is the judgment: because the light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than the light: for their works were evil.  For every one that doth evil hateth the light, and cometh not to the light, that his works may not be reproved."

"...God hath sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we may live by him.  In this is charity: not as though we had loved God, but because he hath first loved us, and sent his Son to be a propitiation for our sins.  My dearest, if God hath so loved us; we also ought to love one another.  No man hath seen God at any time.  If we love one another, God abideth in us, and his charity is perfected in us.  In this we know that we abide in him, and he in us: because he hath given us of his spirit.  And we have seen, and do testify, that the Father hath sent his Son to be the Saviour of the world.  Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God abideth in him, and he in God."
1 John 4, 9-15

a Charismatic 'flash mob' for Francis

Who can forget the flash mob from Rio World Youth Day 2013?  Today 50,000 Charismatics of Italy gathered together at Rome's Olympic Stadium for Italy's Catholic Charismatic Renewal 2014.  There was yet another 'spontaneous' but rehearsed 'flash mob' to demonstrate how hip and relevant to the world the Novus Ordo church is.  We here at Call Me Jorge... believe somewhere the Blessed Virgin is restraining Her Son's hand from striking us.  What a mockery of the one true Faith!

Today's Gospel in the The New Roman Missal in Latin and English by Rev. F. X. Lasance for the feast of the Sunday within the Octave of the Ascension certainly applies to the monstrosity which took place at the Olympic Stadium.

      Gospel.  John 15:26-27; 16:1-4
✠ Continuation of the holy Gospel according to St. John. At that time, Jesus said to His disciples: "When the Paraclete cometh, whom I will send you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceedeth from the Father, he shall give testimony of me. And you shall give testimony, because you are with me from the beginning."These things have I spoken to you things have I spoken to you that you may not be scandalized. They will put you out of the synagogues: yea, the hour cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doth a service to God. And these things will they do to you; because they have not known the Father nor me. But these things I have told you, that when the hour shall come, you may remember that I told you of them."
