Opus Dei Watch

The website akaCatholic has been publishing the research of Randy Engel on Opus Dei.  Both have done a great service to English language readers as it is difficult to find honest reporting in English on Opus Dei as the personal prelature keeps a tight lid on what is written about them through their full spectrum dominance of the religious medias.  While we at Call Me Jorge... don’t agree with everything Randy Engel writes, she should be given kudos for shining the light on Opus Dei.

the new evangelization in Brazil

Is it Francis’ god of surprises?

We at Call Me Jorge... have no clue other than the description (which we copy & paste below) as to what is going on in this video.  Thanks to the reader who sent us this video.
Catholic priest violently shaking the heads of young childrenA priest yanks hard on children's hair and kicks one up the backside as he tries to avoid him in this astonishing video filmed inside a Brazilian church. The images have caused controversy throughout south America where the footage is going viral. The youngsters are said to have been preparing for their First Communion and the unnamed holy man was reported to have been giving them an unorthodox blessing.

It's been 30 years!

Mahony's deposition on sodomite child abusers he shielded for years.

Thirty years ago today, Saint John Paul II appointed Roger Mahony to head the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.  Since that fateful day, the archdiocese has done nothing if not flourish with scandals, sex-crimes, illegal immigrates, sodomy, financial fraud, ad nauseam...  What can one say other than this archdiocese is suffering from the Fruits of Vatican II!

Francis contra Francis

Book reads, "all together against child labor."
From Francis' general audience of 11 June 2014.

"Tens of millions of children are forced to work in degrading conditions, exposed to slavery and abuse, mistreatment and discrimination. I sincerely hope that the international community can extend social protection of minors to eradicate this scourge. We renew our commitment to all, especially families, to ensure that every child and child safeguarding the dignity and the possibility of a healthy growth. A childhood of hope allows children to look with confidence to the life and future...I invite you all to pray to Our Lady, which took the baby Jesus in her arms, to pray for these boys and girls who are exploited with the work and with the abuse."

contra

"The most serious of the evils that afflict the world these days are youth unemployment and the loneliness of the old. The old need care and companionship; the young need work and hope but have neither one nor the other, and the problem is they don't even look for them any more. They have been crushed by the present. You tell me: can you live crushed under the weight of the present? Without a memory of the past and without the desire to look ahead to the future by building something, a future, a family? Can you go on like this? This, to me, is the most urgent problem that the Church is facing."

So which one is it Francis?

Youth unemployment is evil or youth employment is bad?
