The re-defrocked priest Mauro Inzoli (aka ‘Don Mercedes’).
Early in his reign, Francis made it known publicly that he had “zero tolerance” for the sexual abuse of minors from his prelates including covering up the crime. This sounds great but in practice Francis has been shown to be lenient to the extreme in sexual abuse cases. In fact, Francis promoted one of his bishops, Juan Barros Madrid, who covered-up the sex crimes of Fr. Fernando Karadima to another bishopric. One can read but a few of these cases which demonstrate Francis’ cognitive dissonance by clicking here.
Recently, Francis defrocked or we should write re-defrocked one Mauro Inzoli, also known by the sarcastic nickname of ‘Don Mercedes’ due to his passion for expensive cars. So what exactly is Mauro Inzoli’s story? In 2012, Inzoli was accused of being a pedophile and investigated by the Vatican. He is a high ranking member of Communion & Liberation movement (C & L), in charge of an important Food Bank, vice-president of the Company of good works for C & L, confessor to more than one Italian Senator, and member of a traditional family conference (which was accused of being homophobic). Benedict XVI found the charges credible and defrocked Mauro Inzoli. The Vatican then began to cooperate with the prosecuting civil authorities in the cases. The year is now 2013, Benedict XVI resigns and Francis is elected, a new sheriff is in town. In 2014, Francis undoes the defrocking of Mauro Inzoli and warns him “to stay away from children and retire to "a life of prayer and humble discretion."” Cooperation with the prosecutors in Cremona stops as the Vatican and the diocese of Crema withhold promised documents. His friends Msgr. Pio Vito Pinto and Cardinal Francesco Coccopalmerio are pleased with these actions. Regardless, Inzoli is found guilty in May 2016 in “the Italian court of eight counts of sexual abuse of children aged 12 to 16. He reportedly paid $28,000 in compensation to five victims he molested between 2004 and 2008.” These abuses took place during “confessions, while they [Inzoli and the children] were away together on summer and winter camps, and even in hospital.” The judge Letizia Plate ordered Inzoli to “pay 125,000 € ($142,000) in compensation to the families of his victims.” Judge Plate was said to have “said the psychological trauma suffered by the children was aggravated by the fact some families refused to believe the stories of abuse by Inzoli, who was known for his charming manner.” Inzoli is currently in prison serving a sentence of four years and nine months. On Wednesday 28 June 2017 the diocese of Crema, in which Mauro Inzoli belonged, announces that Francis has defrocked him on 20 May 2017 reversing his earlier decision.
“Who am I to judge?”
So why did Francis recently re-defrock Mauro Inzoli? It wasn’t because of the abuses perpetrated. It was due to what came out during the trial. The title of the The Times of Israel’s article, ‘Pope defrocks pedophile priest who claimed abuse was old Jewish ritual’, says it all. One of the victims testifies about what happened in 1996 (when he was a child), that Inzoli “touched him during confession” and when the victim asked Inzoli for an explanation of the sexual act, he explained it, “by referring to a sort of ‘baptism of the testicles’ that he then presented as Jewish ritual mentioned in the Old Testament as a sign of the affection between father and son.” How perverted and disgusting!
Past readers of this blog know that when it comes to Our Lord, Jesus the Christ, Francis is always uttering blasphemies and mocking His crucifixion. When it comes to the Holocaust, Talmudic Jewish religious festivities, and even anything having to do remotely with the rabbis, Francis is all business. Francis has even said, “Many dress up as Christians but are not really Christians.” How apt! Jesus the Christ said, “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in the clothing of sheep, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. By their fruits you shall know them...so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit, and the bad tree bringeth forth bad fruit...Wherefore by their fruits you shall know them.” (Matthew 7, 15-20)
The key difference between the myriad of cases where Francis has decided not to judge & defrock priests and the case of Mauro Inzoli was simply what one of the victims said on the witness stand. The English speaking Novus Ordo religious media has not reported on this one aspect because it is an embarrassment to their bosses. The Israeli media has said of the testimony, “There is no such ritual in the Old Testament or in Judaism.” Why then is there an unspoken tradition of sexually abusing minors in Orthodox Judasim? Many yeshivas of the ‘elder brothers’ are rife with pederasty. In March of this year, twenty Orthodox males in Jerusalem were arrested for sexually abusing children. Why does the Encyclopedia of Jewish Medical Ethics by Rabbi Avraham Steinberg, who was recently appointed by Francis to the Pontifical Academy of Life, say that it is okay for a man to have sexual relations with a boy under the age of nine? Where there is smoke, there is fire.
Don’t think for one instance that this makes the Novus Ordo any less culpable for its deviant behavior. We are only pointing out why Inzoli was defrocked by Francis — it wasn’t for the crimes he committed but for what came out in the Cremora court. The Church has long had a problem with pederasty which St. Peter Damian wrote of, all the back in A.D. 1051 almost one-thousand years ago, in his work, Liber Gomorrhianus (Book of Gomorrah). This problem is most infamously known in our era with the papacies of John Paul II and Benedict XVI looking the other way in exchange for bags of money while Marcial Maciel and others like him committed their heinous crimes.
Just know that is okay for Francis to judge his child abusing priests only when he has to defend his beloved Orthodox Judaism.
